Phuket, which is known as "The Pearl Of Andaman Sea" is located around a one hour flight south of Bangkok. You can also arrive via flights of around 1 hour from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.
The island is geographically blessed with beautiful mountains and many long sandy beaches. The tropical climate makes it a popular destination all year round. The capital is Phuket Town, a vibrant place blending Portuguese and Thai architecture, with some good restaurants at excellent prices.
No trip to Phuket is complete without a spot of island hopping and one of the most popular is a day trip to Koh Phi Phi, scene of the film "The Beach". The Similan Islands are another poular destination, in fact there are endless choices of excursions to enjoy the region's breathtaking marine scenery.
